Artist Profiles.

For preparation of the degree show my fellow students and I are hosting this year at Free Range, London this year called FOLKA,  I am creating artist profile videos to publicise the work of the photographers involved.

It will be a good way of letting the audience see who is exhibiting whilst  giving the audience an insight into the photographers themselves. It will also allow the audience to learn about each photographers practice before the exhibited work is seen first hand.

I am excited to see everyones work finally held in an official gallery space - showing it all to its full potential! Very excited.

Watch out closer for the artist profiles over the next few weeks to start seeing more of what the University for the Creative Arts, BA(Hons) Photography third years have to offer!!!

Preview!
This is a taster of what I am working on currently for my final project at University.
I have pixelated the words because I want to leave it a surprise until the exhibition in May at the University for the Creative Arts. But I thought I’d post a preview of what I’m working on.
I am looking at peoples perceptions of the sea, and how it makes them feel. Creating an uplifting project , based at Newhaven Scuba Centre in Newhaven, on the enjoyment one can feel by/in the sea!Hopefully inspiring others, from inland towns and cities ,to come and enjoy the coast.

Nathan Atkinson is my lovely other half! He has decided to take up photography as a hobby as he is a scuba diver and would like to learn the skills involved in taking brilliant photographs for when he is 30m under the surface in the great seas of the world!
This photograph was taken at Brighton Marina whilst Nathan was on the surface observing me, an open water diver student, learning skills in the water. He had my camera and began shooting, and this is one of his shots.
I think this photograph is brilliant, and the title is very clever.

Well done Nathan!

De La Warr Pavilion - Urban Art Days

I have been volunteering at the De La Warr Pavilion for quite a few years now and I have been on one of their recent workshops, Urban Art Days, with graffiti artist Jiroe. It was a really good experience working with the youngsters, who’s ages ranged from age 9-13. All of whom had exceptional talent and worked very hard to create fantastic pieces of urban art.

I gained a lot of experience with working with children over the three days, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am looking into studying a PGCE course once I finish my degree. This would enable me to teach ages 14 upwards and this experience made me feel certain that it is a route I’d like to take!
