My Name is Lauren Elizabeth Ashley and I am an excited, passionate photographer! I graduated from the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham in 2013. Image manipulation , appropriation and mass surrealism are interests of mine. Though montage and seascapes are my passion in all shapes and sizes, along with colour! I would like to mention that all photographs on this blog have been taken by me unless other wise stated.

Lauren Elizabeth Ashley Photography
This is apart of a project I did at University, titled, ‘Beloved Words’. It was a very personal project, one which was difficult to show as it dealt with the insecurities I had with my body at the time. I am pleased to say that I am now a lot more confident with my body and this project helped me realise that my body was normal and natural, and that I shouldn’t be told otherwise!
I decided to shoot out of focus to show the distorted way I looked at my body, the way I never looked at myself properly because of conflicting messages being said about what I looked like. I was never sure. Therefore, I decided to reflect these feelings by shooting myself in this way.
I have been looking back at the work I have done in the past and I came across this, and wanted to add it to my blog!

The Fairlight Naturist Beach Hunt!
It probably is well known and the route is probably easy , however, we hadn’t been there and found it before, so we wanted to. My boyfriend, Nathan, and I walked on to find this naturist beach. We found it.
It was a lovely summer time afternoon when it began, and we didn’t get back to the car until late that evening. It was well worth the adventure!
Photo story above.
It was like all of a sudden walking into New Zealand, but we were in England!

My boyfriend, Nathan (nathanatkinson.tumblr.com) , is learning tricks and techniques in photography, and I was showing him how to use a long exposure effectively.
I did this as an example , to show him what can be done…and I really rather liked it! I’m not usually a fan of this style of imagery, however, I thought this looked quite pretty and stylish, so I had to upload it!!!

Moonlight on the Sea
Sitting on Bexhill’s seafront watching the sea move - it was gorgeous.
The air was so still, and the moonlight looked so delicate and pretty on the sea, I didn’t want to go home!

For preparation of the degree show my fellow students and I are hosting this year at Free Range, London this year called FOLKA, I am creating artist profile videos to publicise the work of the photographers involved.
It will be a good way of letting the audience see who is exhibiting whilst giving the audience an insight into the photographers themselves. It will also allow the audience to learn about each photographers practice before the exhibited work is seen first hand.
I am excited to see everyones work finally held in an official gallery space - showing it all to its full potential! Very excited.
Watch out closer for the artist profiles over the next few weeks to start seeing more of what the University for the Creative Arts, BA(Hons) Photography third years have to offer!!!

A week ago today, I finished my Resolution unit at University, that also being my final major project.
My brilliant boyfriend Nathan helped me with the set up, getting the frames on the wall - drilling the wall endlessly so the prints were straight! So a big thank you to you, Nathan!
A big thanks to Newhaven Scuba Centre for your help and participation in the project, it wouldn’t be what it is if it wasn’t for you guys!
Head down to the exhibition when you can , it is running at the University for the Creative Arts , Farnham from the 24th May - 1st June and from the 20th June -24th June at Free Range , London in Brick Lane.
Again, big thanks to Newhaven Scuba and Nathan Atkinson for the help in completion of this project.
